Scratch and Scuff removal from Paint

Post by Dougal »

Hey All,

Questions about removing very very small scratches and scuffs from paint.

My car has had some card board boxes laid upn the bonnet and the boxes moved back and forth on it.

Ive cut n polished it once and it got some of the scratches smoothed away but not all. Clay bar helped a bit also bit not all gone.

what other stuff can i use to get this better still?

i have a white car solid paint and use this stuff always been a good thing https://www.autobarn.com.au/kitten-poli ... ream-17195

if its a solid paint and no gel coat...

you could ask advice from a car detailer who has to do second hand car yards

a power buffing machine with cut and polish

if D I Y has to be a long slow process nothing quick but over time ..no hard or uneven hand pressure
. you go slow and easy each application .of cream cut and polish no 2 ..plus cheese cloth one to apply -one to polish .. dont mix them up
. in the same direction of swirling motion .....

if its a metallic with gel coat ... cant go much more at all ..you will take out the clear cote and need a respray

Thanks magnabuff

I'm using the same cut n polish as the one you linked and have used a rotary buffer but I think I'm getting better results doing by hand using terry towelling type cloths.

Its solid acrylic white paint.
I think I will keep trying and see how I go

I was tempted to try Scratchex by Meguiars and see if that helps.
